Clive Mason

Being the son of a Foreign Office worker, Clive moved around a lot as a child. He spent some of his childhood on St Helena Island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, where during his free time, his father would show him how to handle and use a camera – inspiring his love for photography.
As a photographer, you need to be confident that even in the toughest of situations you’ll capture the best possible image and shooting on Nikon will allow you to do just that!
The first Nikon camera I owned was the F3 HP, which I bought with the NIKKOR Ai-S 180mm f/2.8 lens. The combo was perfect for running the line whilst shooting rugby and for goalmouth football action from pitch side.
I have worked extensively with the D6, which I helped promote at launch and with which I took one of my favourite images: It’s a backlit shot of two Australian sailors with the swell of water in the foreground glinting in the golden late light. Nowadays, you can find three Z 9 ‘s cameras and the Z 8, they accompany me around the world. In terms of lenses, I used different ones depending on what I am shooting but I mainly use the NIKKOR Z 600mm f/4 TC VR S, NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8, NIKKOR Z 14-24mm f/2.8, NIKKOR Z 400mm f/2.8 TC 1.4 and the new and fantastic NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.2
